Ron Rodriguez is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer with numerous enormous verdicts that have withstood appellate review. Ron Rodriguez is a 1986 graduate of United High School. He is a 1990 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Business and a 1993 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He also earned a certificate in international law at the University of London, in London, England.

Personal Background

Ron is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a Past President of the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association and a former member of the District 12 Grievance Committee. He is a former Chair of the Trial Court Rules Sub-Committee of the State Bar of Texas and was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to the Texas Supreme Court Ancillary Proceedings Task Force. He was also previously appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to the State Bar Grievance Oversight Committee. 

At U.T. Law School, Ron served as an editor of the Review of Litigation. His competition record in legal advocacy was stellar. Ron was a finalist in the Client Counseling Competition, was the Champion of the Mediation Competition and was twice honored with membership on The University of Texas School of Law National Interscholastic Mediation Competition Team. He was also inducted to the prestigious Board of Advocates. 

Ron is the President and Founder of Texas Personal Injury Experts, PLLC. Ron’s main areas of practice, upon which he has successfully served as lead trial and appellate counsel, include complex litigation involving personal injury and civil trial law, with a focus on wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases. He is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, United States Fifth Circuit, the United States District Court, Southern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern and Western Districts of Texas. 

Ron has served as an Appointed Judge on election-related issues in Port Isabel, Texas. Ron is a frequent speaker on innovative advancements in civil trial law in legal conferences throughout the country and on legal topics that impact and protect the lives of innocent victims. 

Ron has served his community as an adjunct professor in Business Law and Political Science at Texas A&M International University. He is a former legal analyst and writer for the Laredo Morning Times. He is currently KGNS’ legal analyst and the host of the Legal Update. Laredo’s Texas Rural Legal Aid has also honored Ron locally for his Contribution and Commitment to Justice for All. LULAC Council No. 12 has also honored Ron as a Tejano Achiever in 2010.   

Ron is a strong supporter of the local public schools. He has been a frequent speaker at Career Day at many schools throughout UISD and has served as a UIL judge for UISD’s debate competition. He was also honored as a distinguished alumnus at Clark Middle School, his alma matter, and gave the keynote speech at their National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Ron also served as a member of the Citizen Bond Committee that successfully passed UISD’s recent bond to benefit UISD students and the local community long into the future. Ron was in the inaugural class of the most elite award given to alumni of his school – induction as a United High School Longhorn Legend. 

Ron also volunteers his time to serve his community and parish. He has been a lector at St. Patrick’s church for the last fifteen years and has served on team on at least five ACTS retreats at St. Patrick Church and one at St. Martin de Porras Church. Ron has also been recognized for his financial commitment and support of St. Patrick’s ACTS retreat ministry. He has also been a volunteer baseball little league coach, and kids’ basketball and volleyball coach.  Ron successfully secured the 6th largest jury verdict in all civil cases in the United States in 2006. He successfully secured affirmation of that case before the Texas Court of Appeals, making new law that will protect the civil rights of Texans forever. He later secured a favorable settlement of that case for his clients, assuring the financial protection of the minor children for the rest of their lives. 

Ron earned and received the National Public Justice Foundation’s 2010 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for his legal work. The Public Justice Foundation presents this award each year to the attorney who made the most outstanding contribution to public interest through precedent-setting or otherwise extraordinary litigation in the entire United States. Ron currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Public Justice Foundation and is a recent past member of the Board of Director’s Executive Committee. 

Ron’s successful trial accomplishments have been featured in national media, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News. He was featured in Lawyers USA and in the Texas Lawyer as having a Top Ten Verdict, in 2006 and again in 2013, and was recognized by his legal peers for his legal accomplishments in the Texas Bar Journal. He was exclusively interviewed by famed reporter Dan Rather, who personally traveled to interview Ron at his office on Victoria Street in Laredo, Texas. 

Ron has the honor of securing the largest verdicts ever in the history of Willacy County, Raymondville, Texas, and in Dimmitt County, Carrizo Springs, Texas. He has many multi-million-dollar jury verdicts to his credit as well, in his hometown of Laredo, Webb County, Texas, representing individuals in his community who have been victimized and catastrophically injured, usually by large multi-national corporations. 

Recently, Ron secured a $281 Million jury verdict, the largest jury verdict in Texas in 2013 and the 7th largest jury verdict in the country, representing the family of a local veteran. On November 20, 2014, Ron was inducted into the Texas Lawyer Jury Verdict Hall of Fame.  Ron is dedicated to the relentless pursuit of justice and is devoted to defending the innocent and protecting victims in wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases throughout the United States. Ron’s biggest honor and joy, however, is his beautiful wife, Mari Rodriguez, and their three lovely children, Ronald Christian, Athena Adair, and Angelina Meli. He is now excited to open a new chapter, practicing with his son and fellow UT Business School and UT Law School graduate, Ronald Christian Rodriguez.
